Pear, Comice from France – Mouneyrac

The Comice pear, often called the “queen of dessert pears,” is a large, rounded pear with pale green skin and a delicate red blush. Its tender, buttery flesh is exceptionally juicy, offering a richly sweet and aromatic flavour with subtle floral and honeyed notes.

Prized for its silky, fine-grained texture, the Comice pear is best enjoyed fresh when perfectly ripe. Its gentle sweetness and melting mouthfeel make it one of the most refined pear varieties.

How to enjoy it: Quick pear and chocolate tart

• Preheat the oven to 180°C.
• Bake a ready-made sweet tart shell for 8-10 minutes, until lightly golden.
• Melt 150 g dark chocolate with 100 ml cream, then spread it over the warm tart shell.
  Arrange thin slices of ripe Comice pear on top.
  Drizzle with honey, dot with a little butter, and bake for another 10–12 minutes, until the pears are tender and golden.
  Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or crème fraîche.
